Subject
Bucknell Students Picket after Black student denied entrance to tavern
Description
This article in the Sunbury Daily Item from May 1960 deals with an instance of segregation in Lewisburg. After Evan's Tavern in East Lewisburg denied entrance to a black student, some Bucknell students held a demonstration in Lewisburg. They marched from campus into downtown, but they they did not actually take their demonstration across the bridge to the tavern itself because they wanted to avoid the chance of any violence. A boycott of the tavern was organized as well.
